My name is Bick Brooks and I am the co-founder and chief executive officer of Maritime Partners, LLC (“MP”). MP is an inland marine equipment lessor with a fleet of more than 450 vessels either currently in operation or under construction. This fleet has a total fair market value of almost $500mm.
Since 2020, Concentric Analytics has provided a sole source solution for the entire suite of analytics required to effectively run our business. The services provided are primarily focused on portfolio modeling and counterparty credit analysis.
The financial model required to manage our business is complex. The portfolio is comprised of several hundred vessels with each vessel having its own asset features and with each vessel operating on unique leases. As a result, the portfolio model is required to be constructed on a vessel-by-vessel basis. Concentric Analytics (“Concentric”) has created a dynamic portfolio model which allows us to sensitize pre-tax and post-tax returns based on hundreds of dynamic assumptions including leverage features, market lease rates, residual value, tax rates, and operating expenses.
Lease counterparty credit analysis is an important part of managing a leased asset portfolio. Concentric Analytics provides the full lifecycle of credit analysis services we need to monitor counterparty risk. During the diligence phase of a transaction, Concentric Analytics provides a detailed financial model of the potential lessee, a summary of the lessee’s business, and full review of the lessee’s capital structure including a discussion of any relevant debt covenant considerations. Further, Concentric Analytics provides financial projections focused on downside liquidity analysis to understand credit risk in a weak market cycle.
Concentric Analytics offers the equivalent services to two or three full-time Wall Street analysts or associates at a fraction of the cost. Concentric has allowed me to grow my business from scratch without needing to raise third party equity capital which would have been necessary if I had needed to hire financial analysts with a traditional finance background in New York City, Los Angeles or San Francisco. While outsourcing labor to low-cost locations is not a new concept, the logistics of execution are challenging, and the traditional outsourced solution tends to be centered around low value-add services. Concentric offers a “plug-and-play” solution for sophisticated analysis.
